The deadly Rheinmetall-Borsig 88mm anti-aircraft flak cannon throwing explosive shells up to 37,100 ft altitude.

As early as 1942, Nazi Germany had over 15,000 88mm (3.46 inch) anti-aircraft FliegerAbwehrKannon or “Flak” (aircraft defense cannons) guns in place. Being fired at a rate of 15 to 20 a minute, by 1944, “Flak” accounted for over 3,500 American light and heavy bombers destroyed. We mourn their sacrifice and the sadness their families experienced with their loss, this pictorial history is a part of the public record and is dedicated to them.
